The latest acquisition at the Louvre Museum is…a Lebus® load binder?

Here at Crosby, we can’t help but keep an eye out for our products in the world around us. Whether it’s passing a construction site on the commute to work or watching a news story about a heavy-lift operation, it’s difficult not to get excited by the flash of a red pin or the momentary glance of an orange hook. There’s a “behind the scenes” sense of pride that comes with seeing Crosby products in prominent places, even when you know the average person standing next to you would likely never share the same experience of recognition.

We’re in on the secret and we love it.

The experience is one that tends to become even better as the level of prominence extends to national and international heights. It’s an experience that Crosby veteran Terry Johnson is well-familiar with.

On a recent trip to Paris, France, the International Operations Inter-Plant Coordinator made a unique discovery that was likely never before (or ever since) made by any Parisian or tourist in the city: a Lebus® load binder outside of the Louvre Museum.

Known as one of the largest, most internationally-renowned museums in the world, the Louvre typically holds tourists in awe by the palace facades and historic artwork housed within the walls—not by the tie-down equipment outside of the entrance. Nevertheless, while other tourists were taking pictures of the Cour Carrée, Johnson couldn’t resist posing for a quick picture with the load binder after making his discovery.

“When I saw a load binder in front of the Louvre Museum, I immediately checked it out to see if it was ours,” said Johnson.

“I have worked for Crosby for 30 years, so I am always looking for our products in my travels.”

Johnson’s encounter with the Lebus® load binder was by no means the first time Crosby products have caught his eye during his travels. He also recalls a trip to Colorado where he spotted hundreds of Crosby turnbuckles being used as part of the iconic roof structure of the Denver International Airport and later seeing Crosby wire rope sockets in action at the Royal Gorge Bridge.

Even though the Lebus® load binder was being used for the simple application of tightening and locking a chain-style gate outside of the museum’s entrance, it was a meaningful sight for Johnson, as it connected him a little more closely with such a significant international landmark.

“It always gives me a sense of pride seeing our products being used, especially in such prominent places,” said Johnson.

With eight manufacturing facilities and over 1,200 distributors worldwide, it’s possible to take pride in Crosby products almost anywhere across the globe—an opportunity Johnson will continue to look forward to with all of his future travels.

For those who won’t be waking up tomorrow morning with a view of the Eiffel Tower outside the window, simply stop for a moment and take a look at the world around you wherever you happen to be—chances are you just might find a Crosby product.
